Class Descriptions
Ashtanga Yoga uses a precise sequential order of postures linked by breath. The Ashtanga Primary and Secondary Series will be the focus. Movement, sun salutations & breath are key components. This is an advanced class. There are over 90 poses, in addition to 10 sun salutations and over 30 vinyasas in the Primary Series, which meets on Friday evenings. There are over 95 poses, in addition to 10 sun salutations and over 20 vinyasas in the Secondary Series, which meets on Monday evenings.
Core Yoga is a medium to fast-paced challenging class focusing on strengthening the core muscles of the body. This class blends traditional yoga postures with other core exercises including the use of stability balls. This class is aimed at those wanting a challenging and interesting mix of exercises to build core strength. This class is 60 minutes.
Dance Class for Kids This 60 minute dance class is geared towards kids ages 2 to 5. Kids are encourages to explore their bodies through free movement, while also given formal ballet instruction.
Gentle Yoga for Moms is a 60 minute class filled with gentle yoga poses for moms, new moms and moms to be. We will focus on opening hips and shoulders and releasing tension. Children are welcome to attend this class with mom. They may participate in the class by doing the poses on their own or by being incorporated into mom's poses. Children are also welcome to play quietly at the back of the room. Children are welcome to attend, with changing and nursing space available. This class is appropriate for pregnant women and women who recently gave birth.
Gentle Yoga for Women Only is a gentle, beginner class with emphasis on the use of props and modifications to accommodate the fuller body. This 60 minute class is for women only.
Inversion Yoga is an advanced class for the experienced student. This class starts with a fast paced flow designed to warm the body. Once the body is prepared, the class focuses on inversions, including head stands, hand stands, forearm balances and more. Expect to work hard and find your edge. Some yoga experience is recommended.
Level 1 Yoga includes mindful, slow paced floor poses, seated postures, spinal twisting, standing postures, gentle back bends, and deep breathing. Props will be used when needed. This is an ideal class for those new to yoga, as well as the experienced student who enjoys this gentle approach to their practice. No experience is required.
Level 2 Yoga includes medium paced floor and seated postures, standing postures, back bends, and spinal twists, and breathing techniques. More advanced poses will be offered on occasion. Sun Salutations may or may not be included in this practice. Props will be used as needed and alignment will be discussed. Some yoga experience is recommended, but not required for this class.
Level 3 Yoga is an advanced class for the experienced student. This fast paced class offers more challenging poses focusing on the core, upper and lower body. Expect to work hard and find your edge. Some yoga experience is recommended.
Meditation Classes are designed to encourage participants to embrace a positive thought pattern. Each class begins with an exercise to center breathing. Next, attendees experience a visually and vocally guided meditation. The end of the class features an uplifting reflection so attendees depart on an optimistic and encouraging note. You do not need any experience, all classes work to your individualized need.
Meditation with Gentle Yoga couples meditation paired with gentle yoga stretches. This class allows the body and mind to stretch and open simultaneously.
Mom & Baby Yoga This class is designed to help moms with babies under 12 months to get back into life. We focus on gentle movements to stretch and tone the postnatal body. Babies are incorporated in the moves and encouraged to interact with mom.
Prenatal Yoga will provide safe and beneficial yoga postures for the pregnant woman, with emphasis on adapting your yoga practice throughout pregnancy. The focus is on opening the hips, breathing, and meditation in preparation for the birth process. Shoulder and back release are also discussed.
Restorative Yoga is a gentle and meditative style of Yoga that uses props to support the body to deepen the benefits of the poses. It is a relaxing and restful practice that creates specific physiological responses that are beneficial to health and can reduce the effects of stress. It is a wonderful adjunct to an active yoga practice. It can also be a great first class for a beginner or for those recovering from injury or illness.
T'ai Chi consists of slow, gentle, non-strenuous movements ideal for persons of any age who want to stay flexible, increase energy and reduce stress. It promotes health, balance, coordination and tranquility and leads to more graceful movement. This class is 60 minutes long. Youth Yoga This 45 minute class is a fun and energetic beginner level class designed for tweens ages 8 - 12. Meditation and focus skills will also be discussed.
